TAKING DEER BY FIREARMS
Part 6232.1300 - SEASONS FOR TAKING DEER BY FIREARMS

Subpart 1. 100 Series.

Deer may be taken by firearms in deer permit areas 100 to 199 for a 16-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 6. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.

Subp. 2. 200 Series.

Deer may be taken by firearms in deer permit areas 200 to 299 for a nine-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 6. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.

Subp. 3. 300 Series.

A. This subpart applies to deer permit areas 300 to 399.

B. Deer may be taken by firearms in season option A for a nine-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 6. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.

C. Deer may be taken by firearms in season option B for a nine-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 20. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.

Subp. 4. Repealed.

Subp. 4a. Deer permit area 701.

Legal bucks and antlerless deer may be taken in deer permit area 701, as described in part 6232.4700, subpart 158, beginning on the Saturday nearest November 6 and ending on the last day of the final firearms deer season.

Subp. 5. Taking antlerless deer on firearms licenses.

The provisions for taking antlerless deer in this part apply to the use of a regular firearms, all-season, or youth deer license tag. In addition, antlerless deer may be taken and tagged with bonus permits as prescribed in parts 6232.1900 and 6232.1950.

Subp. 6. Permit quota adjustments.

The commissioner may reduce either-sex and special hunt permit quotas for permit areas wholly or partially within the 1837 Ceded Territory at the time the computerized drawing is conducted to accommodate tribal declarations for antlerless deer harvest in the 1837 Ceded Territory in compliance with Mille Lacs Band of Chippewa v. Minnesota, 119 S. Ct. 1187 (1999).

Subp. 7. Early antlerless seasons.

A. Hunters with a 2024 firearms deer license, landowner deer license, archery deer license, or muzzleloader deer license may take antlerless deer October 17 to 20 only in deer permit areas designated in part 6232.1750, item G.

B. Adults who have a 2024 firearms deer license, landowner deer license, or muzzleloader deer license in early antlerless deer permit areas that are also open for the youth deer hunt may carry a firearm and take deer while accompanying youth.

Subp. 8. 600 series.

A. This subpart applies to deer permit areas 600 to 699.

B. Deer may be taken by firearms in deer permit areas 604, 679, and 684 for a 16-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 6. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.

C. Deer may be taken by firearms in deer permit areas 605, 642, 643, 644, 645, 646, 647, 648, 649, and 655 during:
(1) the nine-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 6. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply; and

(2) the nine-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 20. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.

D. Deer may be taken by firearms in deer permit area 661 for the nine-day period beginning the Saturday nearest November 6. The bag limits under part 6232.0300, subpart 8, for the corresponding deer permit area designation under part 6232.1750 apply.
