Subpart 1.
Requirements.
Hunters must be participants in a program for physically
disabled hunters sponsored by a nonprofit organization and must be referred by
an organization prior to being issued a permit. Permittees must purchase an
archery or firearms deer hunting license. Each permittee may be accompanied by
one or more assistants named by the nonprofit organizations and approved by the
commissioner. Assistants are not required to purchase licenses and may assist
permittees in taking deer. Both permittees and assistants must meet the blaze
orange requirement for deer hunters.
Subp. 2.
Open areas.
A hunter meeting the requirements of subpart 1 may hunt in
open areas and seasons. In addition to meeting the requirements of this part,
hunters must meet any requirements of the municipality in which the special
hunt occurs and of any sponsoring organization. Hunt participants must stay
within any boundaries that are prescribed by the sponsoring organization, by
maps provided during a prehunt orientation, or by posting. In 2024, the
following areas are open for hunters meeting the requirements of subpart
1:
A. portions of the Camp Ripley
Military Reservation in Morrison County are open October 8 to 10 for taking
antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms or archery. No more than 50 permits
shall be issued. The bag limit is one deer. Minnesota Veterans Outdoor Programs
is the sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 892;
B. portions of Rosemoen Island in the Lac qui
Parle Wildlife Management Area Sanctuary in Chippewa County are open October 12
to 20 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms or archery. No
more than 20 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is
special hunt 890. Capable Partners is the sponsoring organization;
C. portions of the Crane Meadows National
Wildlife Refuge in Morrison County are open October 8 and 9 for taking
antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms. No more than ten permits shall be
issued. The bag limit is one deer. Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is
the sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 891;
D. portions of Rice Lake National Wildlife
Refuge in Aitkin County are open October 10 to 13 for taking antlerless deer
and legal bucks by firearms or archery. No more than 15 permits shall be
issued. The bag limit is one deer. Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge is the
sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 901;
E. portions of Vermillion Highlands Research,
Recreation, and Wildlife Management Area in Dakota County are open September 14
and 15 and October 19 and 20 for taking legal bucks and antlerless deer by
firearms or archery. No more than 20 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is
three deer. Capable Partners is the sponsoring organization. This is special
hunt 888;
F. portions of Becklin
Homestead Wildlife Management Area in Isanti County are open October 19 to 27
for taking legal bucks and antlerless deer by firearms. No more than 20 permits
shall be issued. The bag limit is three deer. Capable Partners is the
sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 883;
G. portions of Legionville School Safety
Patrol Training Center in Crow Wing County are open October and 4 and 5 for
taking antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms. No more than six permits
shall be issued. The bag limit is one deer. Sons of the American Legion is the
sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 886;
H. portions of the Carlos Avery Wildlife
Management Area in Anoka County are open October 5 to 13 for taking antlerless
deer and legal bucks by firearms. No more than 20 permits shall be issued. The
bag limit is one deer. Capable Partners is the sponsoring organization. This is
special hunt 889;
I. portions of
Rydell National Wildlife Refuge in Polk County are open October 10 to 12 for
taking antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms. No more than 20 permits
shall be issued. The bag limit is one deer. Rydell National Wildlife Refuge is
the sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 885;
J. portions of private property in Township
158 North, Range 40 West, Sections 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, 16, and 18,
Range 41 West, Sections 1, 9, 10, 12, 18, 19, and 35, and Range 42 West,
Sections 12, 21, and 28; Townships 154 and 155 North, Range 43 West, Section
11; and Township 156 North, Range 43 West, Sections 27, 34, and 35 in Marshall
County are open October 10 to 13 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks by
firearms. No more than 12 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer.
Middle River Veterans Outdoors is the sponsoring organization. This is special
hunt 994;
K. portions of McCarthy
Beach State Park in St. Louis County are open October 25 and 26 for taking
antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms or archery. No more than ten
permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. Nontoxic ammunition, as
defined in part 6232.1600,
subpart 7, is required for this hunt. Access North is the sponsoring
organization. This is special hunt 893;
L. portions of Orwell Wildlife Management
Area in Otter Tail County are open November 19 to 21 for taking antlerless deer
and legal bucks by firearms and archery. No more than six permits shall be
issued. The bag limit is one deer. Midwest Outdoors Unlimited is the sponsoring
organization. This is special hunt 887; and
M. portions of property owned by the Plummer
Area Sportsman Club in Red Lake County are open October 26 and 27 for taking
antlerless deer and legal bucks by firearms. No more than two permits shall be
issued. The bag limit is one deer. Plummer Area Sportsman Club is the
sponsoring organization. This is special hunt 884.
