Chapter 4720 - PUBLIC WATER SUPPLIES
WELLHEAD PROTECTION
Part 4720.5110 - APPLICABILITY

Subpart 1. Inner wellhead management zone.
A public water supplier must:
A. maintain the isolation distances for new
contaminant sources specified in parts 4725.4450 and 4725.5850 for potential
contamination sources located around the public water supply well following the
schedule specified in part 4720.5120;
B. monitor potential contaminant sources that
were in existence, recorded, or authorized before May 10, 1993, and that are
not in compliance with parts 4725.4450 and 4725.5850; and
C. implement wellhead protection measures for
potential contaminant sources within the inner wellhead management
zone.
Subp. 2. Wellhead protection area.
For a community public water supply well and a nontransient noncommunity public water supply well, the public water supplier must:
A. delineate the wellhead protection area and
the drinking water supply management area;
B. prepare a wellhead protection plan for the
drinking water supply management area; and
C. implement a wellhead protection plan for
the drinking water supply management area.
