Subpart 1. The nature of science and engineering.
A.
The practice of science. The student will understand that scientific inquiry is
a set of interrelated processes used to pose questions about the natural world
and investigate phenomena.
B. The
practice of engineering. The student will understand that some objects occur in
nature. The student will understand that others have been designed and
processed by people.
Subp. 2. Physical science; matter.
The student will understand that objects can be described in terms of the materials they are made of and their physical properties.
Subp. 3. Earth and space science; interdependence within the earth system.
The student will understand that weather can be described in measurable quantities and changes from day to day and with the seasons.
Subp. 4. Life science.
A. Structure and function in
living systems. The student will understand that living things are diverse with
many different observable characteristics.
B. Interdependence among living systems. The
student will understand that natural systems have many components that interact
to maintain the living system.
