Rule 33.

(1) The utility shall not shut off service to an eligible military customer for a period of 90 days. The utility shall continue to provide shutoff protection for at least 1 additional 90-day period as long as the customer meets all of the conditions for an eligible military customer and requests the utility to do so. After the close of the last 90-day period, the utility shall require the customer to pay any past due amounts in equal monthly payments over a period of up to 12 months.

(2) The utility shall provide the eligible military customer with information on payment assistance programs.

(3) Nothing in this rule shall prohibit a utility that observes an unsafe connection at a customer's location caused by unauthorized use of electric or natural gas service, from implementing measures to cure or address the unsafe connection pursuant to section 9d(1) of 1939 PA 3, MCL 460.9d(1).
