Rule 34a. Section 2.7.6.3.2 of the ASME A 17.1 code is amended to read as follows:
2.7.6.3.2 The motor controller must be located in a machinery space within the hoistway, a machine room, or control room. A motor controller may not be located outside the specified rooms or spaces.
Regardless of location, illumination of 19 fc, meaning foot candles, must be provided where controller work is to be performed.
