Rule 15.

(1) If upon inspection an elevator is determined to be in an unsafe condition, or if the owner or user has not complied with these rules, then the general inspector shall issue to the holder of the certificate of operation a violation notice stating corrections required and a time limit within which the owner or user must comply with the violation notice. The owner or user shall notify the department in writing as soon as he or she has complied with the corrections stated in the violation notice and full compliance is affected. Notification must be on forms furnished by the department.

(2) If in the judgment of the general inspector failure to make these corrections would endanger human life, then compliance with the violation notice may be required immediately.

(3) Noncompliance with the violation notice may subject the holder of the certificate of operation to the penalty provisions of the act.
