Rule 5245.

(1) A trimmer saw shall be guarded by a barrier made of 11 gauge metal, or material of equivalent or greater strength, to contain the trimmings flying from the point of operation and to prevent an employee from coming in contact with any saw blade on the trimmer. The barrier shall be securely bolted to a substantial frame. This guard for a series of saws shall be set as close to the top of the trimmer table as practical.

(2) An automatic trimmer saw shall be provided with a safety stop or hanger to prevent saws from dropping on the table.

(3) The rear of a trimmer saw shall have a guard the full width of the saws and as much wider as practical.

(4) A trimmer saw shall not be run at peripheral speeds in excess of those recommended by the manufacturer.
