Section R. 408.10586 - Periodic resocketing of wire rope fastenings

Rule 586.

(1) Hoisting ropes that utilize poured socket fastenings shall be resocketed at the non-drum ends at intervals of not more than 24 months. In resocketing the ropes, a sufficient length shall be cut from the end of the rope to remove damaged or fatigued portions.

(2) Resocketed ropes shall be in compliance with the requirements of R 408.10581.

(3) Limit switches that are affected by the resocketed ropes shall be reset, if necessary.
