Rule 2301. This part applies to power presses which shear, punch, form, or assemble metal or any other material by means of tools or dies attached to plungers or slides, commonly referred to as hydraulic power presses.

This part does not apply to mechanical power presses, air-powered presses, press brakes, bulldozers, hot-metal presses, forging hammers, hot-bending presses, tube-bending machines, molding machines, welder presses, riveting or similar fastener machines, nut clinching machines, metal stitching machines, 4 slide machines, or a hydraulic press for nonproductive straightening or for the assembly or the removal of items such as cutting tools, bearings, or bushings from spindles, shafts, axles, or housings.
