Rule 1. The following described area is established as the Thunder Bay Great Lakes state bottomland preserve: That area of Lake Huron bottomlands, extending upward and including the surface of the water, within the latitudes 44&deg52'50" (South Point) and 45&deg11'24" (Middle Island) and lying between the ordinary high shoreline and the 150-foot depth contour based on the ordinary high-water level, Alpena county, Michigan, which area contains 288 square miles, more or less.
