110.R2.1 ADMINISTRATION
110.R2.1.1
Scope. The provisions of 780 CMR 110.R2 shall govern concrete
field testing technician licensing.
110.R2.1.2
Definitions. Unless
otherwise expressly stated in 780 CMR, the following terms, for the purpose of
780 CMR 110.R2, shall have the meaning indicated in 780 CMR 110.R2.1.2.
CONCRETE FIELD TESTING TECHNICIAN. A person issued a Grade 1 license by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) authorizing such person to test/inspect concrete.
TESTING AGENCY. An official Local Sponsoring Group of ACI.
110.R2.1.3
Licensing. All
personnel engaged in field testing/inspection of concrete for use in buildings
and structures subject to the construction control provisions of Chapter 1 of
the International Building Code (IBC) 2009 with Massachusetts
Amendments (780 CMR 1.00) shall be licensed by ACI as a Concrete Field Testing
Technician - Grade 1 in accordance with ACI's "Certification Policies for
Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1" and 780 CMR 110.R2.
110.R2.1.4
Application for
Licensing. Applicants shall contact and follow the policies and
procedures of the Testing Agency and ACI to be licensed in accordance with 780
CMR 110.R2.
110.R2.1.5
Examination. Applicants shall contact the Testing Agency regarding
applications, fees and exam schedules. The exam includes a written and
practical "hands-on" component.
110.R2.1.6
Notification of Examination
and Examination Results. The testing agency provides the time and place
for the examination. ACI provides exam results directly to the
applicant.
110.R2.1.7
Fees. Application, testing and license fees are paid to the
Testing Agency and/or ACI.
110.R2.1.8
Renewals. Licenses
shall be renewed according to the policies of ACI.
