Section 5.10 - Delegation of Duties

(1) A dentist licensed to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth pursuant to M.G.L. c. 112, § 45 may delegate certain dental duties set forth in this section to a dental auxiliary who is properly educated, trained, and qualified as specified in M.G.L. c 112, §§ 43 through 53, 61 and 234 CMR and any rule, advisory or written policy adopted by the Board related to the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene, or dental assisting.

(2) The supervising dentist shall be responsible for all delegated acts and procedures performed by the dental auxiliary. Any dentist who delegates a procedure to an auxiliary who does not meet the requirements necessary to perform that procedure may be subject to disciplinary action by the Board.
