Section 18.01 - Purpose

The purpose of 110 CMR 18.00 et seq. is to establish standardized procedures for the Department and Department funded or operated programs regarding the review of criminal records of candidates for employment or regular volunteer or training positions, as well as for foster and pre-adoptive parents. The Criminal History Systems Board (CHSB) has authorized Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) agencies and their vendor agencies to receive criminal record information regarding present or prospective employees in any 411) program funded or operated by such agencies. The CHSB has also authorized the Department to receive criminal record information regarding present or prospective foster and adoptive parents and their household members.
