Section 21.11.01.01 - Definitions

A. In this chapter, the following words have the meanings indicated.
B. Terms Defined.
(1) "Certified small business" means a
business, other than a nonprofit business, that:
(a) Is certified by the Governor's Office of
Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs pursuant to regulations adopted by
that Department; and
(b) Meets the
criteria for a small business as defined under COMAR21.01.02.01B(80).
(2) "Disabled veteran"
means a veteran who has been certified by the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs as having a service-connected disability, regardless of the disability
rating.
(3) "Disabled-veteran-owned
small business" means a small business as defined under COMAR
21.01.02.01B(80)
that is at least 51 percent owned and controlled by one or more individuals who
are disabled veterans.
(4)
"Veteran" means a veteran as defined in
38 U.S.C. §
101(2) who is domiciled in
Maryland.
(5) "Veteran-owned small
business" means a small business as defined under COMAR
21.01.02.01B(80)
that is at least 51 percent owned and controlled by one or more individuals who
are veterans.
