Section 10.27.03.04 - Philosophy and Objectives, Outcomes, or Competencies

A. The philosophy and program objectives, outcomes, or competencies shall be:

(1) Developed by the nursing faculty and represent a consensus of that faculty;

(2) Consistent with the characteristics of the specific type of nursing education program;

(3) Communicated to those responsible for and participating in the program; and

(4) Periodically evaluated.

B. The philosophy of the program shall:

(1) Be consistent with that of the controlling institution and governing body;

(2) Articulate beliefs about individuals and their health, environment, nursing, adult education, and learning; and

(3) Serve as a foundation for developing, implementing, and evaluating the educational program.

C. The program objectives, outcomes, or competencies shall:

(1) Evolve from the philosophy of the program;

(2) Be clearly stated, measurable, and attainable;

(3) Serve as a foundation for planning, implementing, and evaluating the program; and

(4) Identify the expected competencies of the graduate.
