A. In this chapter, the following terms have the meaning indicated.
B. Terms Defined.
(1) "Competent authority" means:
(a) The boiler manufacturer; or
(b) If the boiler manufacturer is unavailable
or defers to a jurisdictional authority:
(i)
A person designated by the Commissioner of Labor and Industry as a Deputy
Boiler Inspector or a Special Boiler Inspector; or
(ii) A professional engineer who has
experience in the design, operation, and maintenance and repair of
boilers.
(2)
"High level" means the level above normal considered unsafe for the operation
of the boiler by a competent authority.
(3) "High pressure" means the pressure above
normal considered unsafe for the operation of the boiler by a competent
authority.
(4) "High temperature"
means the temperature above normal considered unsafe for the operation of the
boiler by a competent authority.
(5) "Low level" means the level below normal
considered unsafe for the operation of the boiler by a competent
authority.
(6) "Low pressure" means
the pressure below normal considered unsafe for the operation of the boiler by
a competent authority.
(7) "Low
temperature" means the temperature below normal considered unsafe for the
operation of the boiler by a competent authority.
(8) "Normal level" means the level considered
safe for the operation of the boiler by a competent authority.
(9) "Normal pressure" means the pressure
considered safe for the operation of the boiler by a competent
authority.
(10) "Normal
temperature" means the temperature considered safe for the operation of the
boiler by a competent authority.
