A. Record Keeping.

(1) At a readily accessible central location in the building where the elevator unit is located, a contractor, owner, or lessee shall maintain:
(a) A legible hard copy of maintenance, repair, test, and inspection records; or

(b) An electronic copy of maintenance, repair, test, and inspection records in an electronic format approved by the Commissioner for that location.

(2) A contractor, owner, or lessee shall retain the records according to §A(1) of this regulation for the life of the elevator unit.

B. The records required to be filed with the Commissioner shall be filed pursuant to the following time intervals:

(1) Incident reports shall be filed within 5 business days of the contractor, owner, or lessee having knowledge of the incident; and

(2) Serious injury records shall be filed within 24 hours of the contractor, owner, or lessee having knowledge of the occurrence.

C. When the Commissioner requires records to be filed electronically, they shall be filed in comma delimited or tab delimited format, except when to do so would pose an undue burden.
