Section 09.12.43.01 - Scope and Purpose

A. Except as provided in COMAR 09.01.12.01C, these regulations do not apply to youth apprenticeship under Apprenticeship Maryland.
B. The purpose of this chapter is to:
(1) Establish guidelines and
standards necessary for the development of skilled apprenticeship
programs;
(2) Establish guidelines
to protect workers who participate in apprenticeship programs;
(3) Establish labor standards to safeguard
the welfare of apprentices; and
(4)
Prescribe policies and procedures concerning the registration for State and
federal purposes of acceptable apprenticeship and training programs with the
Council which is recognized as a registration agency for federal purposes by
the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, Employment and Training
Administration, U.S. Department of Labor.
