Section 09.12.01.05 - Factor of Safety-Increase for Existing Installation

A. An inspector may increase the factor of safety of an existing installation if the condition of the boiler or pressure vessel warrants the increase.

B. Appeal Procedure.

(1) An owner may appeal an increase in a factor of safety to the Board.

(2) Upon appeal, the Board may request that the chief boiler inspector and a deputy boiler inspector or special inspector conduct a joint inspection.

(3) Each inspector shall submit a report to the Board.

(4) Based on the reports submitted, the Board shall make a final determination of the appropriate factor of safety.
