A. A racing association shall have, and maintain, an electronic timing device for the purpose of accurately recording the fractional times of all races.
B. The time recorded by the electronic timing device is the official time of the race unless there is a power failure, mechanical malfunction, or other extenuating circumstance.
C. If the stewards or judges determine that one of the exceptions under §B of this regulation occurred, the official time of the race is the time:
(1) Recorded by
the official timer as provided under:
(a)
COMAR 09.10.01.36B for
a thoroughbred race, or
(b) COMAR
09.10.02.24B for
a standardbred race; or
(2) Provided by a method considered reliable
and accurate by the Commission.
D. The time of each race shall be announced and displayed.
