Section 188-65-01 - Definitions

1. Burnt Island and Burnt Island Living Lighthouse. These terms mean and refer to the Burnt Island Lighthouse Station and Burnt Island (Island) property located in Southport, Maine. Ownership of this historic site was transferred from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1998 to the Department of Marine Resources (DMR) as part of the Maine Lights Program. The island and facilities located there are part of the education outreach program operated by the DMR Education program.

2. Authorized DMR personnel. Authorized DMR personnel means the DMR Burnt Island Manager, Director of the Bureau of Resource Management, Aquarium Director, Bureau of Marine Patrol Officer and other DMR personnel authorized by the Commissioner.
