Chapter 221 - SELECTION OF VOLUNTEER PERSONNEL TO ESTABLISH / MAINTAIN RADIATION MONITORING PROGRAM
Section 144-221-3.0 - RESPONSIBILITIES OF VOLUNTEERS

3.1 Purpose. The purpose of this section is to establish the responsibilities of the volunteers in so far as the monitoring and reporting requirements are concerned.
3.2 Report to the Department. Whenever the pre-determined alarm rate is exceeded, the specific time and location shall be recorded, and promptly reported to the Radiation Control Program. Five one-minute background counts should be taken weekly with average background count recorded each week. In addition, the highest background count and the lowest background count for the month shall also be recorded. On occasion, volunteers may be asked to record and report radiation counts at more frequent intervals. All data collected by the volunteers shall be recorded on forms provided by the Radiation Control Program.
3.3 Safeguarding of Equipment. All monitoring devices shall be located in the homes or on the property of the volunteers. Specific care shall be taken to locate the devices away from extreme heat or cold. The prompt reporting of any malfunction shall be made to the Radiation Control Program, or their designee.
3.4 Record-Keeping. All report forms, referred to in section 3.2, shall be sent to the Radiation Control Program prior to the 10th day of the following month. The Radiation Control Program shall compile and store this data so as to be in useful summaries.
3.5 Cooperate with Public officials. The monitoring devices shall be available for inspection by Radiation Control Program personnel or other public official during reasonable daylight hours provided advance notice is given for the inspections.
3.6 Relocation of Monitoring Device. The monitoring device may be removed by the Radiation Control Program from the home or property of any volunteer monitor for any of the following reasons:
