This Chapter is authorized under the Oil Storage Facilities and Ground Water Protection Law, 38 M.R.S. §§ 561 - 570 -M. These sections of Maine law authorize and direct the development of rules for the registration, siting, design, installation, replacement, operation and closure of underground oil storage facilities and tanks, except tanks used to store propane, and the procedures, methods, means and equipment to be used in the investigation of discharges and the removal of oil and petroleum pollutants.
