Chapter 529 - GENERAL PERMITS FOR CERTAIN WASTEWATER DISCHARGES

SUMMARY: This rule establishes procedures and criteria for issuance of general permits authorizing the discharge of certain pollutants to Waters of the State. A general permit is issued by the State to cover multiple individual discharge sources and locations which all have the same type of discharges and which involve situations where the Department determines there is a relatively low risk for significant environmental impact. General permits may be issued for different specific categories of discharge activities. This rule includes in Section 2 the authority for the general permit program. Applications for coverage under a general permit and conditions that must be observed by all persons covered by any general permit as described in Section 3. This rule is in part similar to federal regulations. To aid the reader, a citation to the corresponding federal regulation is shown in each section of this rule.
