Chapter 3 - PATHWAYS TO LICENSURE AS A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST, AUDIOLOGIST OR HEARING AID DEALER AND FITTER
Section 643-3-4 - Hearing Aid Dealer and Fitter

To qualify for licensure as a hearing aid dealer and fitter the applicant must satisfy the requirements of Pathway 1 or 2 immediately below.
1. Pathway 1 - High School Diploma, Traineeship, Examination
A. A high school diploma or its
equivalency;
B. Completion of 750
hours in the practice of dealing in and fitting of hearing aids under a trainee
permit issued by the board during a period of not fewer than 6 months nor more
than 18 months; and
C. Evidence of
passing scores on the Uniform Practical Examination and the International
Licensing Examination as set forth in Chapter 5 of the board's rules. Passing
scores must be achieved within one year of the applicant's completion of the
traineeship described in Section
4(1)(B) of this chapter
and Chapter 5 of the board's rules. An applicant may not sit for examination
until the applicant has completed the traineeship.
2. Pathway 2 - Licensure in Another Jurisdiction
Proof of current licensure in another jurisdiction that maintains professional standards determined by the board to be substantially equivalent to those set forth in Section 4(1) of this chapter.
