A. Class A, Class B, and Class C swimming pools shall have lifesaving equipment conspicuously and conveniently on hand at all times including the following:
1. a
light, strong pole not less than 12 feet long, including a body hook;
2. a minimum 1/4 inch diameter throwing rope
as long as 1 1/2 times the maximum width of the pool or 50 feet, whichever is
less, to which has been firmly attached a ring buoy with an outside diameter of
approximately 15 inches or a similar flotation device;
3. a telephone with posted names and phone
numbers of nearest available police, fire, ambulance service and/or rescue
unit, and/or 911, if available;
4.
it is recommended that Class B and Class C pools with over 1,800 square feet of
water surface area shall have at least one elevated lifeguard chair for each
3,000 square feet of pool surface or fraction thereof. Where a pool is provided
with more than one lifeguard chair, and pool width is 45 feet or more, they
shall be located on each side of the pool.
