A. The ICF/MR shall permit clients to maintain and use their personal property. The number of personal possessions may be limited only for health and safety reasons. When such limitations are imposed, documentation is required in the client's records.
1. Within 24 hours after
admission, the ICF/MR shall prepare a written inventory of the personal
property a client brings to the ICF/MR.
2. The facility authorized representative
shall sign and retain the written inventory and shall give a copy to the
client, family or responsible party.
3. The ICF/MR shall revise the written
inventory to show if acquired property is lost, destroyed, damaged, replaced or
supplemented.
