A. Curriculum. The alternative hair design curriculum shall consist of at least 500 hours of instruction which shall include but not be limited to the following.

1. History Overview
a. Ancient Origins of Braiding

b. Traditional Multi-Cultural Braid Styles

c. The Multi-Cultural American Hair Experience

2. Bacteriology and Sanitation
a. Types of Bacteria

b. Growth and Reproduction of Bacteria

c. Prevention of Infection and Infection Control

d. Use of Antiseptics, Disinfectants and Detergents

3. Client Consultation

4. Hair Types and Hair Structure

5. Scalp Diseases and Disorders

6. Shampoos, Conditioners, Herbal Treatments and Rinses for Synthetic Hair Only

7. Braiding and Sculpting

8. Louisiana Cosmetology Act and Rules and Regulations
