A. To be eligible for a license, an applicant shall:
1. be at least 21 years of age;
2. be of good moral character as defined by
§1303 A;
3. be a citizen of the United States or
possess valid and current legal authority to reside and work in the United
States duly issued by the commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization
Service of the United States under and pursuant to the Immigration and
Nationality Act (66 Stat. 163) and the commissioner's regulations thereunder (8
CFR);
4. possess a doctor of
podiatric medicine or equivalent degree duly issued and conferred by a
podiatric school or college approved by the board;
5. have taken and passed all three parts of
the examination offered by the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners,
or its successor, or such other national examination as may be approved by the
board following consultation with the board's Podiatry Advisory Committee;
and
6. with respect to applications
for licensure first received by the board on and after January 1, 2005, have
completed at least one year of postgraduate podiatric training in an internship
or equivalent program accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education
of the American Podiatric Medical Association or its successor association, and
approved by the board.
B. The burden of satisfying the board as to the qualifications and eligibility of the applicant for licensure shall be upon the applicant. An applicant shall not be deemed to possess such qualifications unless the applicant demonstrates and evidences such qualifications in the manner prescribed by, and to the satisfaction of, the board.
