A. The school psychology program should include supervised practica prior to internship that includes the following:
1. completion of
practica, for academic credit that are distinct from, precede, and prepare
students for the school psychology internship;
2. specific, required activities and
systematic evaluation of skills that are consistent with goals of the
program;
3. emphasize human
diversity, and are completed in settings relevant to program objectives for
development of practice competencies;
4. direct oversight by the program to ensure
appropriateness of the placement, activities, supervision, and collaboration
with the placement sites and practicum supervisors; and
5. close supervision of students by program
faculty and qualified practicum supervisors, including appropriate
performance-based evaluation, to ensure that students are developing
professional work characteristics and designated competencies.
