A. Except as otherwise provided in Subsection B, only experience obtained subsequent to completion of a degree specified in the requirements for qualifying as an engineer intern will be considered as engineering experience.

B. Up to one year of engineering experience may be obtained prior to graduation, if obtained through a college or university-sponsored co-op program as part of an accredited engineering curriculum approved by the board, and only after completion of the first half of the curriculum. The coop program work must appear on the applicant-us college or university transcript for it to be considered. The amount of credit given for co-op program work will be based on the amount of co-op program work performed, will be limited by the applicant-us academic course load and will only include co-op program work performed during an academic term. The co-op program work must be performed under the supervision of a professional engineer holding a valid license to engage in the practice of engineering issued to him/her by proper authority of a state, territory, or possession of the United States, or the District of Columbia, or, if not, an explanation shall be made showing why the work should be considered acceptable.
