Section XLIII-1520 - Transfer of Parental Rights at the Age of Majority

A. When gifted or talented students reach the age of majority (18 years of age), which applies to all students, they shall be afforded those rights guaranteed at such age.
1. The LEA shall provide any notice required
by these regulations to both the individual and the parent; and all rights
accorded to parents under these regulations transfer to the student.
2. All rights accorded to parents under these
regulations shall transfer to students who are incarcerated in adult or
juvenile, state or local correctional institutions.
3. Whenever rights transfer under these
regulations pursuant to Paragraphs A.1 and 2 of this Section, the LEA shall
notify the individual and the parent of the transfer of rights.
