Section LXXIII-101 - Mission and Goals of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (SBESE)
Universal Citation: LA Admin Code LXXIII-101
Current through Register Vol. 50, No. 3, March 20, 2024
A. As part of the scope of education in Louisiana, Family and Consumer Sciences Education embraces the mission and goals of education as adopted by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
1. The Board of Elementary and Secondary
Education pledges its commitment to the proposition that every child is valued
and every child will learn.
2. On
order that we may honor this commitment, the board will aggressively pursue new
and different ideas, develop a strong systemic process for change, and dedicate
our energies and resources to that mission.
3. The board recognizes that education is an
on-going process in which learning is the constant and time is the variable. It
is for this reason that we propose and adopt the following goals that we
believe will help chart the course for every child in Louisiana:
a. focus on the early years;
b. prepare students for the
workplace;
c. increase literacy,
reduce dropouts;
d. support
teachers;
e. support children and
families;
f. provide performance
based accountability.
B. The mission and goals of education in Louisiana are achieved in part through implementation of the Louisiana Content Standards Foundation Skills and of the Information Literacy Model for Lifelong Learning.
AUTHORITY NOTE: Promulgated in accordance with R.S.6(A)(10) and R.S. 17:10.
