A.
1. All students, upon entering school for the
first time, shall present:
a. an official
birth certificate (Children born in Louisiana will be given a 15-day grace
period to secure a copy of their birth record. Children born out of this state
will be given 30-days' grace in which to produce a copy of their birth
record.);
b. a record of
immunization; and
c. an official
Social Security card. If no Social Security number is available, the student
shall be assigned a state identification number.
2. In cases where birth certificates and/or
birth verification forms cannot be obtained, the school principal may accept
other positive proof of age, race, and parentage available. It shall be left to
the discretion of the local superintendent of schools, subject to the authority
of the school board, as to whether or not a child shall continue in school upon
failure to comply herewith.
B. Every child, as a prerequisite to enrollment in any first grade of a public school, shall meet one of the following criteria:
1. have attended a
full-day public or private kindergarten for a full academic year; or
2. have satisfactorily passed academic
readiness screening administered by the LEA at the time of enrollment for first
grade.
