Section CLXVII-701 - Age Cohorts

A. Children shall be placed in a single age cohort for counting purposes in a school year. Each child shall be placed in the appropriate age cohort at the beginning of the school year and shall remain in that age cohort for the entire school year.
B. A childs age cohort shall be determined by the childs age on September 30 of the school year.
C. Children shall be placed in age cohorts for a school year as follows:
1.
four-year-olds are children who have reached or will reach their fourth
birthday on or before September 30;
2. three-year-olds are children who have
reached or will reach their third birthday on or before September 30;
3. two-year-olds are children who have
reached or will reach their second birthday on or before September
30;
4. one-year-olds are children
who have reached or will reach their first birthday on or before September 30;
and
5. children ages birth to one
year are children who have not reached and will not reach their first birthday
by or before September 30.
