Section 28-35-278 - Radiation survey instruments

(a) Each licensee or registrant shall maintain calibrated and operable radiation survey instruments to make physical radiation surveys as required by this part. The instrumentation required by this subsection shall have a range capable of measuring two milliroentgens per hour through one roentgen per hour.

(b) Each radiation survey instrument shall be calibrated as follows:

(1) At energies appropriate for use;

(2) at intervals not to exceed six months and after each instrument servicing;

(3) with a demonstrated accuracy within plus or minus 20 percent; and

(4)
(A) For linear scale instruments, at two points located approximately one-third and two-thirds of full scale on each scale;

(B) for logarithmic scale instruments, at midrange of each decade and at two points of at least one decade; and

(C) for digital instruments, at three points between two and 1,000 mrem per hour.

(c) Each licensee or registrant shall maintain records of the calibrations specified in this regulation for two years after the calibration date.
