Article 6 - TEMPORARY CERTIFICATION
Section 109-6-4 - Inactive certificate

(a) Before expiration of an active certificate, any emergency medical service provider may apply for an inactive certificate on a form provided by the board. The application shall be accompanied by the inactive certificate fee specified in K.A.R. 109-7-1.
(b) An inactive certificate may be renewed upon submission of a sufficient renewal application and the inactive certificate renewal fee specified in K.A.R. 109-7-1.
(c) The inactive certificate of a person may be reinstated to an active certificate by the board if the person meets the following requirements:
(1) Submits a
completed application to the board on forms provided by the executive
director;
(2) pays the applicable
fee specified in K.A.R. 109-7-1;
(3) has completed any training necessitated
by changes to the authorized activities specific to the person's level of
certification that occurred after issuance of the inactive certificate;
and
(4) meets either of the
following requirements:
(A) Completed
continuing education in an amount to meet or exceed the number of clock-hours
specified for renewal of a certificate in K.A.R. 109-5-1a for EMR, K.A.R.
109-5-1b for EMT, K.A.R. 109-5-1c for AEMT, or K.A.R. 109-5-1d for paramedic
for each two-year period after issuance of the inactive certificate;
or
(B) successfully completed the
cognitive and psychomotor assessment for the person's level of certification,
within three attempts.
