Chapter 301 - STATE BUILDING CODE-GENERAL PROVISIONS
Rule 661-301.10 - Transition period

A construction project which is subject to the provisions of any rule in 661-Chapter 301 or 661-Chapter 303 which requires compliance with provisions of the 2009 edition of any code published by the International Code Council, 500 New Jersey Avenue NW, 6th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20001, may comply with the requirements established either in the edition of the code adopted herein or the requirements established in the edition of the same code previously in effect if the project is commenced on or before January 1, 2017. "Commenced" shall mean that the submitter has obtained preliminary approval from the commissioner or a local building department pursuant to rule 661-300.6 (103 A) prior to July 31, 2016. If final approval for the project design has not been obtained prior to January 1, 2017, the project is subject to the provisions of 661-Chapters 301 and 303 in effect as of May 18,2016.
