Rule 641-97.10 - Extension of time

If the medical certifier is unable to complete the medical certification of cause of death or if the funeral director is unable to obtain the personal information about the deceased within the statutory time period, the funeral director shall file the certificate of death or fetal death with all available information.

(1) Such certificate of death or fetal death shall be considered appropriate authority to issue a burial-transit permit.

(2) As soon as possible, the person responsible for completing the information missing from the original certificate shall report the missing information to the state registrar.
