Rule 641-22.10 - Tattoo Artist Permit Criteria

(1) No person may perform tattooing without a current permit to operate issued by the department.

(2) Each permit issued is in effect solely for the tattoo artist named thereon and remains with the tattoo artist upon any change of employment. Tattoo artist permits are nontransferable.

(3) An applicant for a tattoo artist permit must be at least 18 years of age and submit government-issued documentation to show proof of attaining the age of 18 years.

(4) A tattoo artist must provide proof of current certification by the American Red Cross for blood-borne pathogens and standard first aid or other equivalent, nationally recognized certification.

(5) Permits shall be posted in a conspicuous place in the tattoo establishment.
