Chapter 150 - IOWA REGIONALIZED SYSTEM OF PERINATAL HEALTH CARE
Rule 641-150.8 - Maternal-fetal transport-all levels

Universal Citation: IA Admin Code 641-150.8
Current through Register Vol. 46, No. 19, March 20, 2024

Matemal-fetal transport is an essential component of perinatal care. A hospital participating in the regionalized system of perinatal health care must be familiar with its own resources and capabilities in dealing with obstetrical and neonatal complications. In most instances, maternal-fetal transport is preferable to neonatal transport. Each hospital, when transporting or accepting a transport, needs a system in place to facilitate a smooth transition of care in the most expeditious manner possible. The majority of maternal-fetal transports can be carried out by ground transportation. It is important for ambulance services to be equipped for maternal-fetal transport and have appropriately trained staff.

This rule is intended to implement Iowa Code section 135.11(27).
