Rule 481-63.24 - Resident Property

(1) Residents shall be permitted to keep reasonable amounts of personal clothing and possessions for their use while in the facility. The facility shall offer the resident the opportunity to have personal property itemized and documented on an inventory sheet upon the resident's admission. The inventory sheet shall be kept in a safe location which is convenient for the resident to review and update. At discharge, residents may sign off on a list of the personal property they are taking with them. (II, III)
(2) The facility shall provide for the safekeeping of personal effects, funds and other property of its residents. The facility may require that items of exceptional value or that would convey unreasonable responsibilities to the licensee be removed from the premises of the facility for safekeeping. (Ill)
(3) Any funds or other property belonging to or due a resident, or expendable for the resident's account, which is received by the facility shall be trust funds; shall be kept separate from the funds and property of the facility and of its other residents, or specifically credited to such resident; and shall be used or otherwise expended only for the account of the resident.
