In order to use injections, a licensed optometrist will be able to show proof of completion of the following requirements for board approval:
(1) Be fully licensed and in good standing within the state of Iowa as a licensed optometrist.
(2) Have completed a total of 24 hours of approved educational training pertaining to injections.
a. At least 4 hours of the 24 hours must be
clinical training.
b. At least 5
hours of the 24 hours must pertain to the administration and side effects of
injection treatment for botulinum toxin and chalazia.
