Rule 21-66.2 - Animal Health Sanitation and Record-keeping Requirements

(1) Veterinary inspection required. All auction markets, marketing agencies, sales barns or sales yards operating under a permit as required shall provide for veterinary inspection by a qualified veterinary inspector, approved by the department of agriculture and land stewardship, state of Iowa, who shall inspect all animals marketed and shall require that the premises be maintained in sanitary condition at all times.

(2) Who may inspect. Any accredited veterinarian, licensed to practice in the state of Iowa, and who has been approved by the Iowa department of agriculture and land stewardship. In addition the veterinary inspector must be approved by the department to do brucellosis testing or shall have available approved laboratory testing facilities.

(3) All livestock marketing permitholders are required to Cornply with the record-keeping requirements of subrule 66.3(7). Failure to do so shall constitute grounds for revoking their permit.

This rule is intended to implement Iowa Code section 163.1.
