Rule 21-60.3 - Turkeys

All turkey-hatching eggs or turkey poults must originate from flocks or hatcheries that Cornply with the following requirements of the Iowa state department of agriculture and land stewardship.

(1) For the purpose of assisting the state of Iowa in maintaining its "U.S. mycoplasma gallisepticum clean state status," the secretary adopts the provisions of §§ 145.44(c), 145.14(b), 145.43(c) of the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 9, and the regulations promulgated pursuant thereto of the Iowa Poultry Improvement Plan, August 1989, a copy of which is on file with the secretary.

(2) Blood samples shall be tested by an approved laboratory.

(3) Tests shall be conducted with antigens approved by the department.

(4) All eggs used for hatching shall be identified by the flock owner as to the flock of origin.

(5) All flock and hatchery owners shall follow sanitation procedures prescribed by the department.

(6) Flock and hatchery owners shall report any signs of respiratory disease to the department.
