(3) Certified by an agency substantially
similar to that of subdivision (2) and approved by the commission. The
certification shall include the following:
(A) Not less than five (5) years of
experience laying out fire sprinkler systems.
(B) Having done independent engineering
technician work with little or no supervision on jobs covered by standards and
complete plans, specifications, or instructions.
(C) A demonstration of knowledge regarding
the following topics:
(i) The relationship
between plans, specifications, and contracts.
(ii) Preparation of simple designs.
(iii) The basic application of NFPA
Standards.
(iv) Basics of sprinkler
systems.
(v) Basic materials and
components.
(vi) Fundamentals of
mathematics.
(vii) Fundamentals of
physical science.

(ix) Fire
protection plans and symbols.

Basics of system layout.
(xi)
Classification of occupancies.
(xii) Water supply requirements.
(xiii) System connections.
(xiv) System piping configurations,

(xvii) Pipe joining techniques and
fittings.

construction design release.
