Sec. 4.

If a public utility company files its objections to, and demands a hearing on, a tentative assessment within the time allowed, the department shall hold a hearing on the tentative assessment at a time and place fixed by the department. After the hearing, if any, the department shall make a final assessment of the company's distributable property and shall notify the company of the final assessment. However, the department must give notice of the final assessment before September 30, in the case of railcar companies, and before June 30 in the case of all other public utility companies.
