Sec. 67.

"Standard precautions" means safeguards used for all patients receiving care in health care facilities, regardless of diagnosis, or suspected or confirmed infection status, to prevent transmission of microorganisms from both recognized and unrecognized sources of infection. Requirements of standard precautions are presented in Guideline for Isolation Precautions: Preventing Transmission of Infectious Agents in Healthcare Settings 2007.
