Sec. 17.

"Flock" or "herd" means animals that are maintained:

(1) on a single premises for any purpose; or

(2) in two (2) or more groups under common ownership or supervision, geographically separated, but that have an interchange or movement of animals, equipment, or personnel between the groups.

Changes in ownership of part or all of a flock do not change the identity of a flock or the regulatory requirements applicable to the flock. Animals maintained temporarily on a premises for an exhibition or sale or while in marketing channels are not a flock. The state veterinarian shall determine the flock status of any group of animal and shall make such determination in a manner that advances the board's disease control objectives.
